In commemoration of ore-sama's return....

Yea, I saw Yuzu's post on the summer anime.  I also did a summer anime review for my college publication, so I thought I'd just copy/paste it onto here, as an, um, omiyage, I guess?  Even though I didn't go anywhere...I mean, I did leave, but...oh screw it wtv, anyways here it is (kinda outdated by now though.... O_O)

In all seriousness, I found this season to be quite disappointing.  For example, there was Blade, another Marvel hero forcefully thrust into a Japanese background.  However, this adaptation doesn’t work; the separation between Western cartoons and Japanese animation is way too different for this collaboration between Marvel and Madhouse to be successful.  There was also Uta no Prince-sama. Some girls might have liked it, but I personally couldn’t stand the reverse harem setting and the glittery, super-dreamy animation style.  Yuru Yuri tried to tag onto the daily life genre that K-ON! and A-Channel popularized, except it had so much yuri fanservice that it just became ridiculous instead.  No.6 had an interesting premise (it was literally an illustration of the Marxist theory of an elitist society at the expense of a mass of society “trash”), but the deus ex machine entrance of Elyurias took all the meaning out of it.  There were many others but I can’t find any complementary comments to give.  Overall, it was a very disappointing season.

I only found two worthy of recommendation.  There’s Ikoku Meiro no Croisée, which is about a really cute Japanese girl trying to get used to life in France, getting to meet new people and coming in touch with the local culture.  I found it very quaint and charming, a perfect accompaniment to a cup of afternoon tea by the windowside.  The other one is Usagi Drop, a series about a little girl who was adopted, and how she and her 30-year-old stepfather tried to communicate and get along with each other.  This one was lovable and ‘awwww’-worthy; watching it would have you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

Well, if you want more awesomeness, you’ll have to wait until next season starts.  Then there’ll be Shana and Working and Ika Musume and Bakuman and Fate/Zero and school uniforms galore!  …woah, I so didn’t say that last one.

Yuzuru is BACK!!!!!

TADAIMA~~~!!!!!  Ok see I still don't have a lotta time on my hands, but every once in a while I'll just burst in and interrupt everyone's daily life with random rants or philosophical comments so minna, aratamete, yoroshiku onegaishimasu~~~!!!!!!

Yuzu's Summer Anime '11 Overview

So, within the first month of the new Summer anime of '11, I've pulled up this beautiful (not really) blog for you guys to read about what I've been watching, and suggestions if you might wanna watch it, or if you read this, and you do watch it... so. mull about it, and see if you like!
On with the show :D
((It is a little rushed, as you can see, but exam time IS coming soon, so hopefully I'll be back with some new things~~ ))

Ikoku Meiro no Croisee
The story takes place in the second half of the 19th century, as Japanese culture gains popularity in the West. A young Japanese girl, Yune, accompanies a French traveller, Oscar, on his journey back to France, and offers to help at the family's ironwork shop in Paris. Oscar's nephew and shopowner Claude reluctantly accepts to take care of Yune, and we learn how those two, who have so little in common, get to understand each other and live together in the Paris of the 1800s.
Yuzu’s Overview:
We’re in about the 5th episode so far, and I can honestly tell you I’m lovin it. (Like McDonalds ;D )) I’m absolutely loving Yune, and her adorable chibi Japanese girly aura, and Claude. The way he’s drawn and animated in the anime looks so much like Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle with blond hair is INSANE. Instant love. Not to mention the completely sweet moments that Yune and Claude Claudel (Seriously, that’s actually his last name) have, despite the total age gap.
The other old pervert looking guy in the background is Claude Claudel’s uncle, as his parents died, and he is the one who brought Yune to Claude. ( ITS TRUE LOVE FOREVER, I SWEAR IT. ) and the blonde  girl is this Oriental loving wannabe.

.hack//INFECTION

Guess what?  Yeah, a review for another PS2 game! Yay! It wasn't called the best selling console of all time for no reason. XD

MAI WAIFU.

So... I picked up this game pre-owned at Gamestop EBGames for 17 bucks (am I doing it rite?) and it came with a bonus 'get it free for 17 bucks' 45 minute "anime dvd" to sweeten the deal. (Why buy one disc when you can have two? Asian ideology ftw) Both disc and manual were in pretty good condition (not much scratches no obvious tears etc...), which was a good sign.  ^____^

Fanta Bottle.

okay... now that thats over and done with, ive been away from internet and technology for a few weeks (finally back :D ) with nothing to do so me and my brother whip out the old PS2 and start playing games and OMFG I AM ADDICTED TO THIS ONE GAME IT IS LIKE THE BEST EVER!.Its so simple and I love it. its called ESPN WinterXGames Snowboarding.

made in 2002 I know and yeah so the aim of the game is to compete in many different forms of snowbording  competitions and do like awesome tricks but heres the thing, its not the whole , complex amount of buttons oh wow you did a grab!, not its just tilt the thing back and wow its a fricken backflip :O.
so the different things you can do is, like, racing, half-pipe and slopesyle and yada, anywasys long story short, super fun.
another cool thing is the characters you play as are like, real people, and real snowboarders going down to even the tiniest detail such as where they live to what snowboard they use.
and to top it all off the graphics aren't that bad for 2002.

so now that ive finished wasting your time by talking about some game on the PS2 I hope you will now go and playy it and see what I have been rambling on about :P

KHR 344

A wizard magically deleted my reviews for the past... 5 chapters so I couldn’t upload them in time and it’d be a horrible torturous process to re-type them again.
Nope, I wasn't wasting valuable review time watching youtube poop, why would you even think that anyway >.>

Ok, maybe just a little...

So a quick summary of what’s going on so far...

PIXEL COOKIES.

Hi there.  Um... yeah...
There aren't really going to be many posts for a looooong time (a month maybe?) because everyone has school, exams and stuff or are just lazy.  >.>  Yep, exams and procrastination, eternal enemy of bloggers, fic writers and artists everywhere.

Since we're here, I might as well do something useful.  So here.  You might of heard of Infinity Blade, and this is one awesome looking app. You're this knight guy and you explore a castle and defeat things to level up and get money to buy stronger weapons so you can defeat stronger things and level up even further and so on until you can kill the big kahuna and get the infinity blade.   Or you die and get reincarnated as your previous character's son and do exactly the same thing all over again (you get to keep the exp and items and gold you got) The story is a bit dry and the gameplay a little limited, but it's got great graphics and fluid animation.  The rendering is AMAZING.  ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AMAZING.  ON AN IPHONE. why am i reccing iphone apps? *hits the bandwagon*  A downside is you need wifi to play but hey, small sacrifice for such awesome graphics.

LOLOLOLOL.

...
Okay, I'll just go and play Super Mario bros. and wangst over how Nintendo hard it is...

DELICIOUS COOKIES.

Dog Days Episode 1 - Told you guys I'd post :P

Coming out of the shadows I’m here to illuminate the situation by blogging ;D
And the blogging I am doing is for the first episode of the new spring anime, Dog days.
Well this episode starts with a theme song called ‘scarlet knight’ with a blonde guy we don’t know yet but seems important cause he’s like everywhere in the theme song, anyways then we have this super intense (like camping) talk about war and we are introduced to some main characters, Princess, sorry I mean Female king, Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois and the pretty pink princess from the other side Millhore F. (Firianno) Biscotti. We also get shown this creepy looking dog with shiny eyes, which seem to glint a lot (pervert?).

Serious face is serious

WTF.

*realises that there have been absolutely no posts for two weeks* Hmmm....

Well, yeah, this isn't really a review or summary or anything.
But many of you have iPhones and iPads and stuff like that right?
And this is a somewhat gaming blog right? So here you go. A game recommendation.

You know this game is awesome.

It's $4.00 on the app store, but hey, it's worth it.  Basically you're Earth (a galactic defender guy- yeah you know the jizz) and you're on trial against a jury of other galactic defenders and you have to recount to them how you saved Earth from an army of Doom Beasts. Don't get it? Well, the summed-up, the aim of the game is to defend your city against these little black blob things called Doom Eaters with your lazer. So you're thinking, ah, so it's one of those ten-a-penny run-of-the-mill shoot-em up games with no plot right? Well, wrong.  This game is HILARIOUS. Caps used not for emphasis, but because this game is so AWESOME. The main character with a I-am-awesome mind set complete with awesome lazer shooting arm cannons, the constantly pun-making jury and the easy to pick-up gameplay (which is set in short, 5 min stages, so perfect for those in-class *ahem* breaks where you constantly have turn your iPhone on and off to avoid detection [Your pants does not take any responsibility for any iPhone/iPod/any other device destruction caused by angry raging teachers]).  But yeah, you guys must be thinking. Yeah, yeah, this kid is just making a huge exaggeration of some boring stupid not-worth-it-game in order to fufill her weekly post quota. But no. Well, yes, but no. Yes to the quota thing, but YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BUY THIS GAME.  The refreshing, hilarious gameplay and plot is a rare find in this money-obsessed society where apps like this (all it does is measure how much of a life you DONT have, so don't bother clicking reverse psychology it works).

So yeah, give it a try, I mean at least you're not spending $999.9999999999 (the extra 0.009999999 is a conspiracy the government don't want you to know about and [information deleted for security reasons]) to prove that you have enough money to spend $999.99 on a worthless app that only proves that you have, well, had $999.99 to spend in the first place. You are rich indeed.

30-Sai Hoken Taiiku

I would like to do a little highlight on one of the little animes that might have gone unnoticed till now.
It's 30-Sai Hoken Taiiku.
Now the OP and ED are the full songs but they're nice, and not badly animated/not boring.
Curiously, each ED is animated differently every time, outlining Andou and Imagawa's story/life? in a way.
Sadly, it's not well known, so it is translated around nearly 5 days later than 1 or 2.
However, look forward to maybe a little analysis of the OP and ED or some song reviews.
Any suggestions?
Would love to hear 'em.

Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 2

Um hey, Your pants here...
This isn't really a blog post or anything... .D.
But alot of you have heard about the Ace Attorney game series right? OBJECTION I don't! Shut up random internet troll.
Well, they've released a new game, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 2.
Great, you might say, so they're releasing a new game, so what?
The thing is, they're ONLY releasing it in Japan. That means no English release for us. D:
But we have a solution! Some fans have made a petition! So go forth and sign it!

*waggles eyebrows*

Trololololol. Long cat is LOOOOOOONG.
Hey guys, i've just spent my weekend drooling over fanfiction. Honestly this wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have herpes if I didn't have assessments this entire week, starting with the Japanese writing task.
I blame those that got me into fanfiction.
I also blame those that write freaking amazing pieces of work.
Unlike you guys and your...well... promiscuous mothers I have a fairly decent amount of experience when it comes to the amazing phenonema known as flaming. Actually I have a few pretty awesome tips for those that are looking forward to flaming people with terrible writing skills.
1. insult their grammar
2. insult their way of writing
3. insult their intelligence.
You do those three magical things, and you have a flame. Of course, its a amateur flame. It wouldn't have the depth and the cynical factor behind what I like to call "Sagacity Flame".

However, I doubt any amateur flamer would ever be able to pull that off, as it takes years of slowly degenerating from an upstanding citizen into what we like to call... Internet Trolls. Yes, Internet Trolls.

Commonly referred to as just "trolls" we like to console ourselves with the thought that Internet Trolls are nothing more than basement-dwelling college drop-outs with nothing more interesting to do, than to troll.

KHR 336 & 337

Katekyo Hitman Reborn 336

So yeah... we find out that Mukuro’s body has been possessed, and that everything has been going as Daemon has planned it.
But I’ll bet at least ⅞ of the KHR fandom knew that already ay?
I swear, almost everyone is this manga is a bishounen, and the 2% that aren't are bishoujo.

Pandora Hearts Chapter 61

Well unfortunately it took a while longer to get these up and since I'm not too desperate to make accounts to download raws I waited patiently and was ecstatic when it came out ( "is" ecstatic, I guess is better since I'm writing this as I'm about to read it!)

WARNING:
Consists of spoilers (obviously) and flooding of scans!! Jun's art is so pretty, I can't help it!!

Spring Anime '11~

This season, they've been rollin' up some pretty bangin' animes!
We're going to be following quite a few (which pretty much means more than one) and it'll be pretty awesome >D
For what we've discussed, Illuminya will be following and reviewing Dog Days, Your Pants will be doing Toriko and co-reviewing Dog Days and maybe something else.... Your Mom will be doing Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi and Alazarelle willbe doing Ao No Exorcist. I will be doing anything else as well, but expect some random blogs of old animes that I adore, and maybe Ano Hana once in a while. Maybe even 30-Sai no Hoken Taiiku! -fistpump-

Anyways, Ano Hana's been one of the best so far (that I've watched) and it's definitely going to be a favorite for a long time.
Maria Holic Alive seems very tempting as well, and Maria Holic was pretty good in itself xD I am half following it, but I'm still completing Maria Holic.
30-sai no Hoken Taiiku... Just. Wow xD I honestly love how there's a sweet love story which is being corrupted by perverted sex gods... But it's overall such a cute story with something just.. attention drawing.
Hen Zemi was a hit or miss sorta thing.. Checking out one episode might not be the most accurate view I can give you on it, but I can say the pace of it is relatively slow, but I don't mind slow. I just hate it when nothing interesting fills the gaps. Although in some places it seems worth watching, in the most part I don't feel like it'll be my style.
Nichijou.. is really cute. And I love slices of life. However, there's something about it that isn't completely memorable for me, and I tend to be able to stray from it very quickly, as Ano Hana was the more interesting choice. The humor definitely is very adorable and somewhat quirky though, so I'll be following up on it if I have time.

But for now, that's my side of things so. :D
HAPPY SPRING ANIME SEASON XD

Toriko- Ep. 1

TORIKO EPISODE 1

The episode starts off with a guy…. Eating food.  Kinda not surprising considering that this anime is all about food, but still, this guy has some serious food obsession.

Cut to a scene where the guy (I’m guessing he’s our titular character) is fishing… with a giant cricket as bait. The line goes taut, and wait… WHAAAAAT? Is that a fish or a lobster or both?!?!?

The one on the right is our main character, but you knew that already didn’t you?

Starry Sky 3

INTRO THOUGHTS: urm. Capricorn's story was really stalkerish and cliche, so I'm going to ignore it.

Episode focus: Aquarius= Tsubasa.
So the episode starts off with this intense opening by Aquarius and a shot of the stars.
It starts off by showing a kid Tsubasa, and women gossiping about him.
At this point, he looks really cute, just tinkering away at this toy thing.
And Jun Azusa shows up, asking kid Tsubasa what it is. He shows him his invention, and Azusa and him start to bond. It's a watering machine.
at which point they look incredibly cute.
8D
Tsubasa says: I is not amused...
And then Azusa goes off about how everyone's unique, and they greet each other AS FRIENDSS <3
AHHH HE'S SO CUTE.

And so they shake. Tsubasa laughs, and a bunch of cute bonding follows.
its too cute.
can't describe how cute it is.
-weeps-
Then, older Tsubasa steps into school and is stalked by Aries.
AND.
he meets Azusa again.
LOVER'S FATED MEETING?
((nah, it's only a fangirl's mind xD))
They shake again.
It's kinda funny how short Azusa is.
O.o
But it's cute how well Azusa knows Tsubasa and how Tsubasa cares for Asuza.
((PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEMAKETHEMGAYFOREACHOTHER))
We see Kazuki stride on stage looking all epic and appoints Tsubasa as the treasurer.
The rest happens, Tsubasa is DRAGGED AWAY FROM AZUSA >(
and he meets the student council, they have a good time, they meet a bump in the road, he gets banned from doing inventions by our possibly gay  metrosexual Virgo.
And it ends.

End Thoughts: Well, the later part is more to make it so there's relatively SOME plot in his story, although I really preferred the friendship between Tsubasa and Azusa.
But I guess Aries is cool, Virgo seems like a bit of a bitch, Aquarius is HELLA CUTE AND SWEET AND KIND AND WEIRDLY UNIQUE XD and Sagittarius is all his.
>D
((fangirls never shut up xD))
But it's alright. Very cute, takes a turn for the better and isn't completely cliche.
I mean, the only thing that HINTS towards love to the girl is in one sentence in the second part of this story!
YES. I LOVE AQUARIUS.
kinda.
Makes him less desperate though.
-claps excitedly-
xD
and so that's all, I'll be back with another episode soon~

Air Gear Chapter 301

Air Gear killed it this week.
The most epic chapter off shounen jump in ages.
AGES I TELL YOU!

But my god- it killed it this week.
Everybody found out the 'brothers' Kaito-Agito/Akita are actually father and son- with the spilt personality of their mom inside the brothers.
I just died trying to process the info into my brain.

Best chapter ever since we found out that Rika was pregnant and Simca is actually close to 30 years old and a shotacon since Ikki is not even 20...

Read it.
Read and love it.

New Season, New Surprises

Maaan~ I still can’t get over how weird this season is :P  Other than those two dream/fantasy/chaos series that I talked about last time, most of the others are also kinda weird O_O

Fractale:  the setting is some rural/RPG-looking setting in the far future, with some sort of Communist “you get a basic income even if you don’t work” kind of society going on …

Hourou Musuko:  a series about middle schoolers who like to crossdress O_O  and this series doesn’t take the usual comedy-ecchi approach, but instead takes more of a serious, philosophical approach.  Which makes it all the more weird =.=”

Rio Rainbow Gate:  a series based on a character from Japanese pachinko machines O_O  as expected, based mainly on sex appeal and gambling (Rio is a handler at the gambling place, and is apparently some “Goddess of Victory” because people win big when she’s around – but don’t people winning big detract from the gambling place’s profits? No idea why the owner calls her the “best”)

Kore wa Zombie desu ka:  umm, the main character is a guy, and he’s a zombie.  He looks normal, but he doesn’t die even when hit by a truck, or sliced in half.  And by the end of the first episode, he also becomes a *clears throat* “masou-shoujo.”  It is obviously a play on the common “mahou shoujo” (magical girl).  With the whole transformation scene and the fluffy outfit with all the laces and ribbons.  Definitely weird =.=”

Level E:  Aliens.  O_O  It’s really … weird O_O  The main character is supposed to be a high school student, but he totally looks 20+.  But he makes good tsukkomis.  Otherwise, the whole thing is just weird.

Oniichan no Koto:  a little sister loves her big brother to the point of being incestrous.  She finds out IN THE FIRST EP that she was adopted, and isn’t blood-related to the family.  Instead of being depressed or confused (which is NORMAL), she takes joy in the fact that she can legitimately marry her big brother.  This is so crazy that I’m not gonna watch it anymore.

Freezing:  GORE!  If I had to name another series this is similar to, it’d definitely be Claymore.  People screaming after losing limbs and being slashed and blood everywhere, and then being able to grow body parts back O_O  But almost all the characters are girls =P

Beelzebub:  Man I was looking forward to the anime of this series.  Then they screwed it up with a ton of American cartoons-style onomatopoeia and backgrounds.  Like, y’know, zigzag backgrounds with solid color.  A real disappointment.

Dragon Crisis:  seems like the only “normal” series this time.  Guy finds a mysterious girl (a dragon, apparently) and has to learn to live with her.  Yay for normal shounen mystery/romance =D

Again, I can’t fully express how weird I think this season is.  It’s like, waaaay~~ out there.  It’s gonna be one interesting season alright =P

~WINTER SEASON~

So. The winter season of anime.
Definitely not impressed at all.
I sped through a few of the names and none of them really interested me.
Level E sounds alright, but the rest of them were a bit. Killjoy.
Starry Sky's new episode 3. Aha xD they shouldn't have made it a harem. Too bad yaoi didn't make it >D
Really.
So much of those secretive little UST/BL moments.
yes.
xD
Half the fangirls are BL fangirls.
And of all my friends, I think all of them are BL fangirls ||D
Anyways.
BACK ON TO TOPIC.
none of them are really interesting.
So I'm probably only following one new anime again this season (Starry Sky) until Level E really does catch my attention or another anime picks up the pace and makes me go WOW 8D

GOSICK IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude I’ve totally fallen in love with this after the first ep!  The music is pretty cool, the animation is nice and crisp, just the way I like it.  The directing is brilliant in terms of conveying different atmospheres through usage of different angles/distances that I thought was very well done.  But most of all, the characters are so lovable!!  Not little-girl-Mahou-Shoujo kind of lovable.  The Inspector is a very well thought-out …. Yes, comic relief.  Kujo is a guy, but still cute (probably on the level of Honey from Ouran).  The cutest of all is Victorique (the anime characters seem to pronounce it more like Victorica though), she’s like, Shinku from Rozen Maiden kind of cute.  Doll-like and wise at times, pouty and oh-so-huggable! at times, and SHE PUFFS ON A PIPE LIKE SHE’S SHERLOCK OR SOMETHING kyaaa~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winter '11 Anime Atmosphere

Hey guys, first post of the year from Yuzuru desu~!!  And I will talk about …. Of course, the new anime season!  Cus I really wanna get it out there: this is one WEIRD season.  Y’know, sometimes it’s really quite easy to grasp the overall atmosphere of a season when several series share a similar theme: ex. last season there was Kuragehime and OreImo and KamiShiru, which were all sort of satiric works that reflect the otaku culture.  In this season, we have Puella Magi Magica Madoka and Yumekui Merry, both of which are about dreams and chaos and lack of reason.  They both feel really …… creepy *shivers.*  The only upside is that Kalafina, one of my favorite J-groups, is gonna get a LOT of air time doing the BGMs and ED for Magica Madoka XDD

Puella Magi Magica Madoka’s plot synopsis said “Magical Girl Madoka Magica is an original anime television series to be produced by SHAFT and Aniplex. It will be directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, character designs by Aoki Ume with Takahiro Kishida doing character designs adaptation and screenplay written by Gen Urobuchi. Music will be composed by Yuki Kajiura.”  Which basically is not a plot synopsis at all =P  But seriously.  “Magical Girl” usually refers to kiddy girly stuff with wands and comical enemies and pantsu shots.  But this one is way out of the league.  The character design is simple and cute, maybe even TOO simple.  In contrast, the plot immediately starts off the deep end: the main character gets a warning “if you wish to maintain your lifestyle, never change who you are,” the main character meets a girl that she wanted to help in a dream, but who seems to be after her life IRL, reality distorts itself into random images like the OP animation from Psychic Academy, the “enemies” seem to use some weird language, and a prominent usage of chains in the animation.  Well, there still is a “normal” magical girl transformation scene, but still, this series is really creepy.  Especially since Kajiura is doing the BGM.

Yumekui Merry’s plot synopsis said “Ten years ago Fujiwara noticed he had a power to see multicolored auras surrounding the person’s body. Ever since then he’s been having a weird dream about a war with cats. Then one day a mysterious girl falls on top of him…”  I honestly though, oh, it’s a mix of To Love-ru with Mayoi Neko Overrun or something (btw both of those series are by the same mangaka =D), so I was expecting general average ecchi comedy and stuff.  But ~~noooo~~ that’s too normal~~~ so what it turns out to be is a separate dream/town where there is an army of cats acting cool and there are giant floating fish skeletons and a a big buff boss cat that looks stupid and cool fighting scenes.  From the little that I’ve seen, it now seems more like Soul Eater-style.  Mysterious and creepy and awesome action scenes.

GOSICK, the first ep of which has yet to be aired yet, is sorta similar, based on the manga.  It’s also gonna be mysterious and cryptic, but leaning more towards a detective/mysteries sort of plot line.

Still, I’m really taken by surprise by this season’s mood.  Never would have imagined it in my wildest dreams.  Not sure I like it.  Not sure I particularly dislike either, though.  Gotta wait and see how everything pans out =D
